In boredom last night I decided to go see Maggie, which from the pitch sounds like an epic movie that 1987 always needed.  After all, it is Arnold Schwarzenegger in the midst of a zombie apocalypse as he tries to save his daughter.  Or at least, that is what I guess I thought it would be. I mean, it’s a horror movie with an Action Star, I was kind of expecting head shots and blood and… it’s not what I got and I am kind of glad.  I am not going to try and sell you on this movie as something special, or amazing, or life changing. It ended up being something of a kind of understated beauty.  It had it’s flaws but I can’t believe I am saying this, Arnold Schwarzenegger was kind of great in a movie that was a meditation on loss and how to deal with it.  As good as he was Abigail Breslin was even better.  I have never posted her before because frankly she’s a lot more a femalecelebrityoftheday girl than she is my type.  But she was really good.  Even if the movie ended up maybe too relentlessly dour her performance was moving and quite good through out.  And I guess I wanted to talk about the movie I saw because one of the truly great things in life is when art surprises you by being better than you expect.  I was moved I guess, mostly by the performances so today I want to fuck Abigail Breslin.
