Here is Melissa Benoist because she is apparently in Paris. She was at the Christian Dior show and she looked absolutely beautiful. I miss getting to post her more often but I stopped watching Supergirl and what’s more she shows up in pictures less cause I guess the show is less of a big deal than it was at launch. There was a real deluge of her on the red carpet then. Less now. It’s a shame because I did think she made a fantastic Kara Zor-El, the show, like all the CW shows really, just ended up getting mired in stuff I found uninteresting as it went on. She’s here now though and man she looks so good. Today I want to fuck Melissa Benoist.

Guys, there was so much competition today! First of all, there is snow in Korea and I am so excited for that. I stayed up until 2 AM to watch the first events but that won’t get posted here because it was Men’s Alpine Skiiing and Curling. And well, none of the men caught my eye and then I went to bed because while I realize it’s a capital offense if you are in Canada, I am in the US so I can freely say I wasn’t willing to stay up any later just to watch curling. So Olympics posts are coming, just not today. Then I get up and there are like 12 new great photoshoots? And people showing up at events and looking amazing? This was a hard decision but I am posting Melissa Benoist cause she looked sexy for Coveteur and has been in a ton of great shoots recently, which I assume is related to Waco which… hey, it’s weird. I remember Waco and the world being fascinated with it at the time and it bothered me as a kid because it felt slimy then (people seemed more titillated than concerned) and now as an adult it’s strange to see the news events of my childhood mined for drama. Not that it’s wrong to do so it just feels… strange. So maybe it will be awesome? Who knows. I am sure it will be a big hit. There is a joke there about it having a cult following but I’ll avoid that. In part because it’s hacky but also because I am never sure if having a cult following is a good thing. Pretty much that means most people don’t like you. I guess having a cult following is good if you’re a cult leader but otherwise it seems like a negative to me. Anyway, Melissa Benoist sure is pretty.  She always looks good but it’s nice to get a reminder. Today I want to fuck Melissa Benoist.

Melissa Benoist hasn’t shown up in a while because I stopped watching Supergirl. I wasn’t mad, I just sorta fell off and I know the current direction of the show is what Tumblr seems to like but I preferred the first season. I would get into reasons but seriously, who cares why I like or don’t like something you like. I still have undying affection for Melissa Benoist though and a big part of that is I really liked how she played Supergirl. It was nice to have a hero be a hero. And she is so pretty. I guess she is in Waco and so she has been popping up at things and… well, she is here because she is pretty. It’s almost impressive, how some of the things she’s worn can’t mar her beauty. That feels mean. I really liked the red dress she wore. But some of the stuff… man. Oh well, she looks good in Red (and blue) and I like her a lot. Today I want to fuck Melissa Benoist.

So Supergirl is back and I couldn’t be more excited.  For lots of reasons.  First and foremost is that I absolutely love Melissa Benoist in the role.  The show has some flaws, though I like it a lot, but it is amazing how perfectly it does Supergirl.  And after last night how perfectly it does Superman.  It fills me with joy that I am really not equipped to put into words.  Yesterday was a tough day because sometimes no good, very bad days just happen, even in Australia.  So it was nice to get some members of the Superfamily being Superheroic.  And hopeful.  And just good people.  And I didn’t mean to make this some kind of subtle slam against the movies but it is starting to sound like it.  That wasn’t on purpose.  The thing is I love the characters and I love their goodness and what they represent.  And having it back is nice because I am grateful for Melissa Benoist in the role.  She is great.  Today I want to fuck Melissa Benoist.

I never thought I would love Melissa Benoist as Supergirl as much as I do.  I didn’t have doubts about her or anything, like I actually posted her after seeing Whiplash and was like, this is a preview because I am pretty sure she’s going to show up a lot once Supergirl airs.  I happen to love Supergirl as a character.  I just… didn’t realize she would feel so perfect.  I am genuinely excited for the next season when it starts.  Now, obviously I have to qualify that by saying like the Rockford Files, there are some things I would change if it were up to me, you know, if anyone gets that joke, but she is not one of them.  I think the reason I love the show as much as I do is how right it gets the central character.  A huge part of that is Melissa Benoist and just how well she embodies one of my favorite DC heroes.  She just imbues her with something that makes the character.  It’s a lot like Christopher Reeves did in the movies, it just feels right and no matter what is going on around her she feels perfect.  She also has looked adorable and just great at Comic Con.  So here she is.  Today I want to fuck Melissa Benoist.

Supergirl came back last night and thank god.  I mean… I think it was only not on for a week but I missed it.  I like the show.  I really like the character.  I really like Melissa Benoist in the role.  I am thankful she has it, not just because she plays it well but just because… she feels right.  She feels like Supergirl.  One of the things I am most thankful for with the modern waves of Superhero media is how many people playing superheroes seem to take that duty seriously.  Which I know sounds silly but I don’t mean character fidelity or something.  I mean kids.  I got into Superheroes as a kid and I am sure there are lots of reasons I was drawn to them but I know a big one was because of what they represented.  The world is unjust and you’re not really supposed to know that as a kid but for some of us your parents don’t shield you from that, instead they contribute to the knowledge, so I was hungry for some sense of justice.  It is nice to find something where people are good and do right not because they have to but because it is the right thing to do.  A world where people do their best to help.  So I love that so many actors and actresses playing the role seem to take that part of their job seriously and are willing to help give that magic to another generation of kids.  It can help a lot.  Last night was a good reminder because evil Supergirl really made me uncomfortable.  I didn’t like it.  I thought maybe I’d find it a little hot but no… I just didn’t like it.  So I am so thankful for a show that isn’t about darkness and it gave us a good example in the flaws of making a superhero more “mature” by having them act like dicks.  I am glad we have the character the way she is and I love the way Melissa Benoist plays her.  I love the way Melissa Benoist talks about it off screen.  So that’s why she’s here.  Today I want to fuck Melissa Benoist.

There are versions of the Superman mythos where the S on the Chest is not just the family crest for the House of El, it is also the Kryptonian word for hope if you look at it the right way. That can be a little on the nose, sure, but it is a good way to write about what is great about the family of characters surrounding it. It is something the current show Supergirl seems to understand and has embraced in a way that a lot of DC media has not.  It is why I like it. Last night’s episode certainly seemed to get the importance of hope, the importance of not giving up and continuing to try.  I could go into a lot here about why superheroes meant so much to me as a kid, why I really needed them, but I won’t.  I’ll just say I am glad it is something that is still out there.  Today I want to fuck Melissa Benoist.

So it occurs to me as I put this together than in the past 3 days I have posted 3 times directly in response to shows about a female hero.  This is nice because it wasn’t an option at this time last year but really it’s more nice because things could not be more radically different than Supergirl and Jessica Jones.  If I am being honest Jessica Jones is a better show.  It’s a better show essentially because it can be, it can explore themes that Supergirl cannot because of what each show is meant to be.  That is fantastic.  Everything should not be the same and that applies to comic book media as well.  There can be something for everyone.  More importantly it applies to female characters, I saw a wonderful post the other day talking about it.  Jessica Jones and Kara Zor-El are nothing alike.  Not at all.  It is so nice we have moved past the tokenism of the “strong female character” and moved towards the idea of female characters.  I think it can be hard to grasp that representation is not one person who shares one trait with you (gender, race, sexuality, whatever) when you yourself have no such issues finding so many people who share one trait with you.  I guess what i am saying is if you’re a straight white guy you don’t immediately associate with every straight white guy on TV because he’s just like you.  That would be nuts.  No instead you have a whole swath of straight white dudes and you can choose the ones who really seem like you.  And that is what representation really is.  So two characters aren’t enough but it sure is a whole lot more when they aren’t just the same thing.  And it’s ok if one is not for you, my friends @thunderstormofoblivion in a strange bout of desire to be wrong thinks Supergirl is cheesy.  That’s of course just silly.  And wrong.  Supergirl is wonderful, she is hopeful, she is earnest, she is good.  These are amazing things and they make me smile.  Melissa Benoist is just wonderful in the role.  And go find that picture of her carrying a puppy and walking with the most excited girl scouts you have ever seen and tell me cheesy isn’t kind of wonderful.  Today I want to fuck Melissa Benoist.

You may know this about me, but I will forgive you if you do not, I love Supergirl.  I mean, I also love Superman but it is for different reasons.  I think they are both stronger for the relationship they have to each other in that Superman is the “adult” and the aspirational character.  In theory Superman represents the best of what we can be.  Supergirl on the other hand is interesting to me because she represents someone with the same abilities who is still learning.  It means on an actual personal level I find her more interesting than Superman thoguh I think both are suited for very good stories when done right (and I’ll go ahead and say it, dark and gritty is not doing Superman right).  I think there is a lot to dig through with the idea of a woman who could be considered the most powerful person on the planet but can’t get out of the shadow of a man but I don’t even think it needs to go that way so much as there is something very human about knowing you have the ability to be great but having to work to get there.  Of having a certain standard thrust upon you that isn’t really of your choosing but it’s what you are going to be held to.  So I am excited about the TV show and this post is about Supergirl but I am not posting Supergirl.  I have done that in the past.  This post is about Melissa Benoist who I thought did very well as Supergirl.  It seems to me that it’s a role that could have gone wrong in so many ways but… I really liked her in it.  The show is a little rough around the edges but I liked her a lot.  So today I want to fuck Melissa Benoist.

So I just watched Whiplash and I quite liked it.  Now, if you watched Whiplash and Melissa Benoist was your take away you didn’t pay much attention.  I know this.  I am not writing this like she was somehow the focal point.  I liked the movie but this isn’t really about that movie.  The movie was more just a reminder of sorts.  Ever since she first showed up in people’s consciousness, Glee I think was the cause, people I know have pointed out that I would like her.  This happens sometimes, people identify celebrities as my type.  I don’t know why that happens but it does.  She was cast as Supergirl and I was like, well I guess she’ll show up here eventually because I do love Supergirl.  The Supergirl trailer came out yesterday.  That’s not why she’s here.  I haven’t watched it, I don’t watch a lot of trailers.  No, she is here because I was watching Whiplash and when she sows up my reaction was, “Wow, that girl is really pretty.  Who is that girl?  I like her a lot”.  That girl was, of course, Melissa Benoist.  So  I guess everyone was right.  Thus here we are, today I want to fuck Melissa Benoist.
