I woke up yesterday to my phone telling me that Doja Cat had released a new track, Mooo! This served as a reminded that I have had the video on my watch later list for like two weeks because I am old and often my reaction to new stuff now is to go, “Oh, I’ll have to remember to get to that” as opposed to when it used to be, “Drop everything, we are watching this right now”. Boy was I missing out. I actually almost posted her back in the spring at some point. It was whenever Go to Town came out because that song was also quite frankly awesome. I would use a euphemism for what it was about but it was pretty openly about eating pussy so I am not sure why I should beat around the bush if she wasn’t. Oh god, there’s a joke there but there’s a line about being shaved so the joke wouldn’t even make sense. Anyway, Mooo! has taken the internet by storm and it’s a work of sheer brilliance. Now, I know someone will try just say it’s stupid but they strike me as very boring people. Because yes it is very stupid. And hilarious. And catchy. And that’s the point. It actually takes a smart person to put stuff like this together and her music has always been striking in how catchy it is and how all over the map the subject matter is. Anyway, I am posting her cause she’s kind of cool and kind of hot. I hope new found fame is good for her, I have already heard rumblings of controversy but haven’t dug too deep. We all have our trials, because all of a sudden I have heard people say Doja Cow and I get why they made that mistake and I am really worried my fingers will betray me. Anyway, the truth is the song is a real ear worm and has been stuck in my head so as hard as decent pictures were to find I am just embracing it. Today I want to fuck Doja Cat.
I spent last night watching a bunch of episodes of the Avengers. The old British TV show that was probably what most people thought of when they heard the name The Avengers until sometime in the last decade or so. Or, most people probably thought, “huh, what?” But maybe more people thought of the quirky British TV show before they thought of the comic book. Anyway, I had caught and episode or two in the past and found it full of British charm but I have a friend who has recently become obsessed whit it so I decided to sit down and catch a few episodes and that turned into a handful because it really is fun. It’s a mix of silly and serious with a wry British wit. It reminds me of the best parts of the Roger Moore James bond and none of the flaws. Of course, Diana Rigg was a Bond girl. She was in the one everyone said sucked when I was a kid and everyone thinks is great now. She is why I am posting. I kind of couldn’t decide who I was posting, Diana Rigg or her character Emma Peel and the truth is it is a bit of both. Emma Peel is very crush worthy because she’s amazing. I get why she is a feminist icon. My friend Katherine told me she is her favorite hero because she doesn’t exist to be saved by a man. And one thing that was striking to me watching the show is that she and John Steed are completely equal. The entire show operates as if it never occurred to anyone making it that someone might treat a woman as less than equal. Certainly it never occurs to refined gentleman John Steed that Emma Peel is anything but his equal. That alone makes the show feel radical (along with there being nothing sexual between them. Television and media in general has a hard time accepting any male/female friendship without trying to insert some sort of romance. It’s one of the many issues I have with fandoms and shippers actually). So I was thinking of posting Emma Peel because she is awesome and on top of that she is funny and stylish and just oozes charisma. But that felt like a disservice to the actress, who surely is responsible for a great deal of that. Perhaps the oddest thing is most people reading this may not recognize her but she is a major character in Game of Thrones. It’s strange how the world keeps moving no matter what we wish. So I have settled on Diana Rigg, knowing it is a mix. I love what she has done with Emma Peel in what I have seen and good god is she easy to look at. Today I want to fuck Diana Rigg.
Barbara Palvin is at the Venice Film festival which is pretty exciting because traditionally she looks fantastic in Venice. This seems like a strange stalker thing to say because how would I know which cities she looks best in but I promise you this is a strange regularly posting celebrities to a blog thing. I am of the opinion that Barbara Palvin has a passion for film. I say this because she always attends Cannes and she always attends the Venice Film Festival. Every year. As well, her instagram stories often have her watching some old movie or something. I could be coincidence, you can’t really know someone through social media but it seems like it might be a thing she is really into. Anyway, the result is she is always at the Venice Film Festival and usually is photographed all over Venice and I dunno what it is about the city but she always looks amazing in it. Maybe along with fashion and film she has a deep love for ancient mercantile empires. Boy, if that’s true Barbara Palvin is just a deeply fascinating human being. Can you imagine the dinner party conversation? Boy, who else has thoughts about the Duchy of Amalfi that they are going to share? Besides me I guess. Anyway, that last part is pure conjecture but maybe. She looked good though as she often does so today I want to fuck Barbara Palvin.
Charli XCX spent last week on vacation in Jamaica and it included a picture basically every day of her in a swimsuit or something like that. I am not usually the type to post a bunch of pictures of girls in their bikinis but I thought she looked really good. And sometimes I am just that simple. Today I want to fuck Charli XCX.
Today just felt like a Lana Del Rey kinda day. I don’t know why exactly other than because it does. I happen to like her a lot because she is pretty and her music is uniquely hers but also I find her a number of strong philosophical concepts given human form. Which is a neat trick but most of us never get to be the embodiment of intellectual ideas but she does. My favorite at the moment is that everything she does is constructed and artificial and that there is more truth in that than there is in most authenticity. It’s just a fun paradox to sort of bounce around in my head, that because everything she does is an affectation she reveals more than those who carefully take their time to seem real. There is no lie to Lana Del Rey because it’s openly not real. Anyway, my brain loves going down those roads but if you don’t I would point out she makes for some fantastic pictures. Hey guys it’s summer and not much is going on but that’s nice when my mind can just wander and not be too influenced by mass media. Well, sorta. I am posting a celebrity because I like her music but it feel more natural. There hasn’t been a push. I posted Jenny Lewis yesterday and that sent me down a record hole where I listened to a bunch of stuff and eventually I ended up on Angel Olsen and I am posting her. Today is easily my worst Angel Olsen post ever. Just pointing that out. This is the third time I have posted her and in the past I posted her on Thanksgiving because it just felt right each time and those are better.
