So the Americans is nearing it’s end. It’s very close and I just started the final season. I held off because I kind of didn’t want it to end but also because the show can be so tense that sometimes I almost need to prepare myself. I fear things will not end well for everyone. The show can be bleak but I am thankful for it. It is marvelous and I am still astounded by the job everyone does on it. Which is why I am posting Keri Russell. She is gorgeous of course but her performance in the show has always been such a revelation. It makes me wonder how many truly amazing actors are hiding on our TV screens and just not given enough to do that we ever realize the depths of their talent. This isn’t a slight against her previous work, I liked things like the Waitress and all, but when Felicity was this pop culture phenomena it was never because people were astounded by the acting. At least, I don’t remember that coming up. I guess I could be wrong because boy it’s been forever. The thing is though this show gives her something to work with and the story she can tell with just her face is profound. It’s really the great strength of television that it can give an actor the time to take a character and explore them in a way no other media can. The complexity and depth of the leads of this show are profound and so much of what we know about her character is never told to us. We can just see it in her face, in her actions, in how she responds. I am going to miss but I am also going to savor these last 10 episodes. Today I want to fuck Keri Russell.
