Hey guys, here is Taylor Swfit because you know me, I love to post obscure celebrities sometimes. I think her Australian Tour is over but I don’t know if that means there is more of it or it’s all done or what. Maybe the moon next? It seems like Taylor Swift can probably go anywhere and people would come and see her because I have this theory that people love Taylor Swift and she’s an immensely popular artist. I don’t have proof yet but you know, like or reblog this post if you think I’m right so I can prove to my dad that Taylor Swift is popular? I can’t remember how those text posts used to go. I don’t actually have anything interesting to say here, it was more that she is good looking and boy are there are lot of pictures of her over the years and so I was kind of just digging through and finding stuff I liked. Today I want to fuck Taylor Swift.

About a week ago Sonakshi Sinha wore a gown to the Indian GQ Men of the Year awards that I was a big fan. It was shiny. I really liked the cut and I shared it with my dear friend @thunderstormofoblivion who told me, “Of course you love it, she looks like a fucking disco ball”. Which in fairness she did. I get that that is a thing for me. A woman dressed like a disco ball. The point of this story is I know I posted Taylor Swift on Monday and here I am posting her again because she is really putting a lot of effort into making me happy this week. It’s greatly appreciated. Kind of out of the blue but I won’t complain. She looked great at the AMAs last night. Even the boots matched. I am down and I am still thankful for her Sunday post. And legit, fuck everyone criticizing it, left and right. I am reading your articles, you guys are having to bend over backwards to be offended. Bite me. Back to her dress. It fucking rules.Today I want to fuck Taylor Swift.

Last night at 7:30 I knew who I was going to post today because Taylor Swift did something that moved me. I am an American. I am quite proud of that fact. I am a product and citizen of the great experiment formed by a group of people driven by humanist enlightenment thought and the end point of a legacy of ever expanding liberalism. The ideas that all men are created equal. There have been missteps along the way but I genuinely believe the world is a better place because of it. Much of Western history since has been driven by Enlightenment ideals and the idea of man’s right to self determination. That has been under attack in recent years in a way I thought I would never see again. I remember the fall of communism and the collective sigh of relief. Authoritarianism wasn’t extinguished completely but we were moving that way. Things have gotten ugly. Not just in my country but around the world as we have seen people seem to genuinely consider that perhaps Democracy is not that important. It is. My country has done things I am not proud of. Things that frighten me. I staunchly believe it is not who we are. I believe most Americans are good people. But I believe our talk is dominated by the insincere. People who are maliciously willing to tear us and our values apart to enrich themselves. War is good for the wallet, especially when it’s ideological. I have long been critical of Taylor Swift for saying nothing. I know many will congratulate her for taking a stance they agree with. I agree with everything she said. I am impressed she took a stance period. I think it is important to speak your convictions to drown out those who don’t even believe most of what they say but know someone will. I am certain there is already a gnashing of the teeth out there because it’s the world we live in now. But it doesn’t have to be and Taylor’s post was excellent at demonstrating this. She might have given the most apolitical political endorsement I have ever seen. Parties were not mentioned. Simply the issues she finds important and why she finds them important. Statements, that at least in public, everyone endorses. Respect and dignity for our fellow man, no matter what he looks like, what gender her or she is, what sexual orientation. That no one should suffer because they were not born into a preapproved group. Then she asked people to educate themselves and vote their convictions. This is all I want and all I can ask of anyone. I know some people only want to see their side endorsed or their side encouraged. I don’t mind if someone disagrees. Someone who genuinely wants what is right and is voting by their convictions can be reasonable. They can be talked to. They can be convinced. I grew up in a world where gay marriage wasn’t even a term. If it had been the 13 year old me probably would have been against it. Certainly my parents would have been. They are not anymore. Because for all their flaws as people they are not evil. Discussion, enlightenment. It has changed views. It’s a long game but voting matters. Learning who you are voting for and what matters is important. I was thrilled to see Taylor Swift had taken a stance because it is important that she spoke to her convictions whatever they are. I am thrilled at the way she asked people to vote, the way she encouraged them to think. It gives me hope and it’s a wonderful thing. It has been said that the present state of this country does not represent who we really are as a people. It is time we prove it. Today I want to fuck Taylor Swift.

So Taylor Swift interviewed Pattie Boyd for Harper’s Bazaar and this is all kinds of confusing and out of the blue but I am not even the least bit upset about it. It’s great. Patty Boyd is one of the most important people in rock history who never made music. For those who aren’t in the know, she was a model of some renown who became a photographer of great renown who then became the wife of a Beatle and the object desire of a guitar god and then the wife of that guitar god. There is a whole messy love triangle between her and George Harrison and Eric Clapton that has inspired some truly great art. I even put on Layla as I wrote this because why wouldn’t I? Anyway, rock icon aside, I in no way have thought at any point, “What does Taylor Swift think of Pattie Boyd”? It turns out she’s a big fan. I am glad. I think it could be exciting if an entire generation of people read Wonderful Today as a result. Either way, it is both bizarre and pretty cool that this happened. On top of that Taylor posed for some very classic 60’s style stuff and boy does that suit her. It’s not surprising, the secret of posing in looks of past decades is we’ve had literal years to filter away the garbage. You get to just choose the best stuff. Also, Taylor just does that kind of thing well. So I am posting her because it made me oddly happy to wake up to a Harper’s Bazaar with Pattie Boyd being interviewed by Taylor Swift and Taylor looks really good in the pictures. Today I want to fuck Taylor Swift.

Here is Taylor Swift because I am suddenly getting a ton of Taylor Swift in my life. This is a very indirect injection of Taylor Swift (though obviously somewhat direct given I follow her in places like, you know, tumblr). But I follow Charli XCX everywhere. Who is touring with Taylor Swift. And Charli’s social media, especially when the tour first started, is just full of videos and pictures of Taylor Swift doing stuff. On top of that, I have multiple friends with tickets full of excitement. @she-goes-to-eleven is going… really soon? Tomorrow? Friday? I don’t know, I frankly don’t keep obsessive enough track of my friend’s schedules. Anyway, the result is I keep seeing Taylor Swift performing and hearing about her and hey, she looks pretty good this tour. So here she is. I hope you mega fans all are getting to go see her. Get there for the opening act! Today I want to fuck Taylor Swift.

Here is Taylor Swift for multiple reasons. The primary being that I am not sleeping well still and the result is I have been sleeping in about 1-2 hour bursts before waking up and needing to deal with stuff for a bit. It has lead to odd dreams and I had one about Taylor Swift and no not that kind of dream. Not really. It was just odd. What other reasons are there? I mean, she’s pretty and I was excited to listen to her cover Earth Wind and Fire and that lead to me thinking of songs I’d like to hear Taylor Swift cover and then that I’d like to hear a song that isn’t about her. Which isn’t a criticism of her but i realized a lot of the songs I was thinking of were more narrative or about people very far removed from her. It would be interesting to see how she spun it. So those are the reasons she’s here. Today I want to fuck Taylor Swift.

Here is Taylor Swift because today is @thunderstormofoblivion birthday. Usually I go into detail explaining why something that seems unconnected is connected but the connection is actually really obvious. Which means if you need it explained it’s because you don’t know @thunderstormofoblivion at all, which makes me very sad for you because she’s fantastic. You should send her a message wishing her happy birthday or something and then cross your fingers it opens a brand new friendship. Maybe do it before you get drunk today, you want to make a good first impression and she’ll likely eviscerate you if you’re a drunk asshole. And yes, I know you’re going to be drinking today because everyone goes out in celebration of her birthday. I assume that’s what all the noise is about at least. I am glad she was born, too, I get it. I haven’t figured out the green thing yet because she’s never mentioned it’s her favorite color but hey, who am I to criticize, it looks fun. Anyway, she loves Taylor Swift like Leprechauns love gold and terrible sequels, so I am posting Taylor. I sometimes have issues with some things about Taylor Swift but she is a hero to legions of kids who grew up with her and you know, from what I know of those kids I guess Taylor’s done a pretty good job as a role model, because the kids are alright, you know. Today I want to fuck Taylor Swift.

Here is Taylor Swift for some reason. Not sure why she would be on my mind because when she has a new video come out it isn’t like the entire world is saturated with talk about it. So it’s a mystery and will remain so but she has vaguely been on my thoughts all week. So she made it here today because she is pretty and I kind of liked her new video, even if, and I know this will anger people because you can’t talk about Taylor Swift without angering people, Reputation as a whole isn’t doing a ton for me. Today I want to fuck Taylor Swift.

I have rewitten what I have here a couple of times because I wasn’t entirely happy with what I had to say. Or rather… well, let me explain I guess.  Taylor Swift has a new video coming out.  You likely know this because when Taylor Swift does something it is all over the news and internet and probably in your church newsletter.  There are already comments all over the internet about what shots in the preview images are secretly digs at this celebrity and that celebrity and that was the first way I approached this.  I find Taylor Swift troubling.  I like her sometimes, I want to like her all the times, but the truth is she is a predator disguised as prey.  Playing the victim is a power play, you can make someone else into the villain while you garner sympathy.  You will meet a lot of users in your life who are like this and it can take most of your 20’s to learn to identify them.  It becomes doubly troubling to me to look around the state of my country right now and see a white woman play the victim at the hands of a black man.  There is a lot to unpack there.  Someone noticed on twitter that Reputation is going to come out on the same date 376 years later that Rene Descaretes put out his Meditations on First Philosophy and I had a hilarious and hilariously mean quote I created but then realized I needed to stop.  First of all because no one else was going to get it.  Smarty had a party and no one came and there is nothing more pretentious than paraphrasing French Philosophers to make digs at American Pop Stars.  I also realized I wasn’t really making fun of Taylor, who I assume can take it, but making fun of her fans, which is uncalled for.  Because here is the real point I want to make today.  Every single hero has feet of clay.  It’s why the idea of fandom and the thing the internet has made out of it is highly disturbing to me.  I think it is good to like things and I think it is delightful to find other people with similar interests. I think it is disturbing to make what you like your identity.  I tend to run from people whose sense of self is wrapped up in being a gamer or a Swifty or really into fucking cartoon ponies.  It’s ok to like any of these things you but you are more than your interests.  At least I hope you are.  And that’s where the feet of clay thing becomes important.  There are things about Taylor Swift which will always nag at the back of my mind, I think I already mentioned the big one, but it’s ok for her to be your hero.  Heroes have flaws because our heroes are human beings (or I guess cartoon horses).  Human beings are only human and not perfect.  That is ok.  Heroes exist to motivate us and to give us something to look up to.  It’s ok to just love the good parts.  But it’s also why it’s important that a hero is inspirational, they are not a support system.  Your identity shouldn’t be wrapped up in who your hero is.  You can’t actually use them to prop yourself up because those feet will crumble.  I guess that’s my point.  If Taylor Swift has been important to you and helped you then that is great.  That is laudable on her part and I am happy for you.  But it’s not a religion.  If you are attacking people who disagree, if you have the devotion of a zealot I do think you should rethink.  I am not saying you should tear down your heroes (though I do think at some point we need to destroy our idols, it’s an important part of growing up and moving on) I am just saying that you should be more than who your hero is and you should use them to help you grow, not to stifle your growth.  That’s all.  I talked a lot about Taylor Swift here even if it wasn’t obvious.  I am still not sure I am satisfied here but oh well, only like three people will really read it anyway.  I am glad she means a lot to a lot of people and I have to admit, she is talented.  And she is pretty.  And I had stuff to say so I am posting her.  Today I want to fuck Taylor Swift.

There was still a lot going on this weekend that meant there was going to be a lot of competition for today’s pick but instead Taylor Swift is here for no reason.  And by No Reason I mean of course there is a reason but more like I say that when there is no particularly obvious one.  She wasn’t at a place or in a thing.  I mean… she was at places and in things I am sure this weekend, I know she’s mega famous but I don’t think being a celebrity gives you the ability to transcend the physical universe or anything.  I am not claiming she was floating in an empty void of non-existence.  More like she wasn’t in the sort of thing that generates a bunch of internet attention like say Paris Fashion Week.  So a lot of models fought for attention and there are three who I almost posted today but I am thinking about Taylor Swift.  And how despite a lot of noise a month ago with her new video all is quite on the formerly country and western front.  It’s just odd.  Or she’s a PR genius (I mean she basically is I am just not sure this is part of that) in that by not crushing us with publicity we are thinking about her more because why isn’t she crushing us with publicity.  It’s an odd situation.  Anyway, she keeps popping into my head so I am posting her.  Today I want to fuck Taylor Swift.
